Or Chadash Happenings ...

Sukkah, 2006

Rabbi Louchheim led the “3 Stars Summer Havdalah” at the home of one of three congregants in August. Cantor Cohen and Brenda Landau each led the service marking the end of Shabbat at two other homes. Participants shared desserts at each site. Other images of the Summer Havdalah follow.

27 members of Congregations Or Chadash and Chaverim gathered at Or Chadash for the yearly observance of Jewish tragedies on Tisha B'Av. Rabbi Helen Cohn led the study session and service and Cantor Janece Cohen chanted from Lamentations.

NEW RECYCLING PROGRAM RAISES FUNDS FOR CONGREGATION

We’ve just joined the eScrip Recycling Program that can turn our recyclable cell phones and printer cartridges into cash for our congregation without any cost to us. Deposit your recyclable cell phones and laser, or inkjet printer cartridges in the eScrip Recycling container at the office during regular hours. We will ship the phones and empty cartridges to eScrip Recycling which will then deposit funds electronically in our account!

If you have a business or know of a local business that uses inkjet or laser cartridges we can place a recycling container at their location and we’ll do the collection and handle the shipping of the items to eScrip.

This program will be successful with your help (and your printer cartridges). Thanks for recycling and for helping generate funds for Or Chadash.

You make the difference!
Make A Difference Day
Sunday, October 29th

Our Congregation provided helping hands for the fourth year at Make A Difference Day, starting at 8:00 a.m., Sunday, October 29th. This year we undertook a different type of undertaking—building an outdoor classroom and park for Desert Sky Middle School in Vail.

Previous Make A Difference Day

WE MADE A DIFFERENCE
by Michael Levy

More than 25 volunteers, working in conjunction with JCRC, the Tucson Police Department, and Congregation Anshei Israel, turned out to clean-up the exterior yards of a needy family for Make A Difference Day Sunday November 6th. Chain-saws buzzed, weeds were pulled, stumps removed, and general clean-up completed in three hours. Everyone appreciated the work done. We hope the effort rebuilds pride of ownership and that the family continues to maintain the yard. It was a wonderful mitzvah and everyone worked hard to make the effort a huge success.

Congregation Or Chadash volunteers working hard and helping to make life and the environment better on Make a Difference Day.
